Centre for Military Technology

The Centre for Military Technology is a joint organization between the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Swedish National Defence College (FHS).

Operation

The purpose of the Centre is to have different competences from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and National Defence College (FHS) joined in a common organization. This organization is called Centre for Military Technology at KTH and FHS, in short MTC, in order to develop new activities and to initiate and carry out joint research efforts in such a way that the specific competences of KTH and FHS are combined in a fruitful way. MTC shall also strive towards an increased coordination of educational efforts within common areas.

MTC is working along these lines of activities

Initiate and with external funding perform research where the technological depth of KTH and the over all perspective of FHS strengthen the effort, like autonomous and intelligent systems, security research s.l., having a focus on disposable sensors and detectors, design of mobile (micro) energy supply systems, decision systems and models of optimization.
Looking into the special problems related to the area of electronic warfare where the combination of KTH and FHS special areas of competence might create new solutions.
The Centre shall support the work of making research proposals within relevant areas.
MTC shall also investigate the need of and study the feasability of forming an independent organisation for technical evaluation, based on Modeling and Simulation. Focus intends to be on collaborationg systems.
The Centre shall arrange international conferences on military technology, MilTech and support other international conferences within its area of competence, e.g. AECV (all electric combat vehicle).
Encourage other forms of international networking regarding relevant areas of research.
Develop new courses like Systems Engineering and Leadership for PhD students and Computer Network Defence (CND) for the business area.
Security research in collaboration with other European research organizations using specific skills from KTH and FHS.
Continuously investigate possible co-ordination of ground level education and special courses.
